miniToolsCoating s.r.l. was founded in 2001 with the aim to realize precision regrinding and PVD coating of gear cutting tools; our background and experience is correlated with a major gears manufacturer of Padua.

 

Over the years, miniToolsCoating has pursued a policy of constant development and continuous investment to successfully deal with the wide world of gear cutting tools regrinding: HSS and carbide hobs, shapers, solid Gleason cutters for bevel gears, Coniflex blades, HSS and carbide stick blades of various types, like Gleason RSR, Pentac and Oerlikon, sharpened on two or three sides.

miniToolsCoating realizes sharpening of all the main tools used in the manufacture of gears, using modern CNC machines.

The coatings we propose for hobs and shaper cutters are TiN, for generic applications. CBC is a great cloating for high module hobs, working at low speed cutting. ALTICROME for high perfomances

For carbide tools de-coating is possible with the exception of chromium-based coatings such as CrN, ALTICROME, AlCrN.

For all cases, the coatings are made with precision, thoroughness and accuracy, in order to optimize the performance of the tools of our clients.

For HSS blades, we propose a special TiN coating

(for traditional jobs), and COMPOSAL for those jobs where increased productivity is necessary.

Carbide inserts, which are used in high speed work on CNC machines, propose our SILICUT coating.

Constant quality and precision
The strict specifications of our production process and the heat treatment ensure the constancy of a high quality throughout the life of the tool.

We comply with tight tolerances in all the major geometric features and rigorous dimensional standards for each type of tool.

Each tool is carefully tended.

Clamping Devices
For the use of solid mill cutters with 6 “and 7.5” crown types, we also realize the correct clamping devices.
100% Final Testing

All tools are controlled with a dedicated three-dimensional involute checking equipment. On request, it is issued the  inspection certificates.

Reduced over time wear
For our mills cutters we use high-strength sintered steels: standard implementation in ASP2023, with high hardness and toughness; special implementation in S390, for use at higher cutting speeds.
Service
For an optimal regeneration of the tools we also provide a fast and accurate sharpening and coating service.
High performance coatings

We produce the latest generation of PVD coatings, specially optimized for the application of the tools we produce. These, combined with a precision sharpening considerably increase tool life.

Crashing Rollers

Profiling rollers for grinding wheels that produce higher-quality results due to the materials used and the extensive experience of heat treatment.

The grind of the grooves is made with numerical control machines, with particular care in the accuracy of the step and in the constancy of the radius of the bottom of the grooves. This varies depending on the pitch of the top, in a manner consistent with the tapping regulations.

The quality of the miniToolsCoating rollers is constant throughout their lifetime.

Crashing Rollers, if we exclude diamond rollers, can be built in HSS, high-alloy steels or carbide.

In any case, to ensure acceptable performance, hardness should be no less than 64 HRC. They could be built in non-tempered steel, but for profiles with very tight tolerances, consistent wear would be very fast. The speed with which comes the wear of a roller depends on the depth and the type of profile, but to get an idea of the number of rollers that can be consumed, you can refer to the description of the profile of a grinding wheel, from peripheral surface of a cylindrical grinding wheel. In this case, at least two profiling rollers are needed to obtain good tolerability profile. Naturally, the rollers, then can be carried forward again with the grinding operation.

An optical length of the rollers in HSS occurs when the peripheral speed of the grinding wheel profile is about 1 m / sec.

The higher the peripheral speed of the wheel, the greater will be the relative speed between the roller and wheel, being therefore greater wear on the roller. Reducing the peripheral speed of the wheel, we will increase the time of forming, and therefore, wear of the roller; therefore, you must choose a compromise between the time profiling and roller wear.

Each rotation error, radial or axial, roller, causes a corresponding error on the profile of the wheel.

The eccentricity in the radial direction, and the “flicker” in the axial direction, must not exceed 0.01 mm

During profiling, with peripheral speed of 1 m / sec, it is very important that no sliding between wheel and roller occurs, because then, the roller will wear away.

The best system is that the wheel is motorized, and the roll is pulled. This is because the wheel has a larger diameter, and therefore has a greater tensile strength, thus being easily pulled by the roller having a smaller mass.

 

It could also move the roller motorizándolo, but in that case a greater roller pressure against the grinding wheel would be required, resulting in a dangerous slide, particularly in the case of a new wheel.

Progress against grinding roller must have a value of 0.5 to 1 .mu.m / spin wheel. Our represented miniToolsCoating (Italy) specializes in building and sharpening HSS rollers profilers.

With the continuous improvement of steels and coatings, it has developed an optimal combination of these two elements, obtaining excellent results lasting rollers.

Building Crashing Rollers in S390, and ALTICROME coating, the tools have been shown that the length of the roller is up to twice that others with the same working conditions.
